Options for Varicose Vein Removal

People seek cosmetic treatments to make them look younger and more beautiful.  People who suffer from varicose veins are no different in this regard.  They seek treatment options for the removal of early-stage spider veins.  Untreated spider veins can develop into a more serious condition that requires aggressive medical intervention.  Left untreated, varicose veins can jeopardize your health, while spider veins only mar the appearance of the skin.  Varicose veins are a frequently occurring malady in the United States, where approximately fifteen percent of male population, and more than twenty-five percent of females suffer from varicose veins.

Outpatient Treatment
Modern medical science makes outpatient varicose vein removal a reality.  Sclerotherapy is a common varicose vein removal procedure.  It requires the injection of a solution into the varicose veins, which makes them disappear.

Endovenous Laser Treatment or EVLT is another option that helps in varicose vein removal and this procedure involves heating the inside part of the varicose veins in order to seal the veins shut.  This in turn causes varicose veins to disappear.  When using this option, a doctor inserts a very slim laser fiber into the damaged section of the vein.

Adding to the variety of treatments designed for varicose vein removal is the use of heat to shrink and cauterize the varicose veins called radiofrequency occlusion, also known by the acronym VNUS.

Along the same line, laser and treatments using short, pulsated bursts of light into target areas chosen by the surgeon, serves to cauterize the veins, after which they disintegrate.  To get maximum results your doctor may require several sessions of this procedure before the varicose veins begin to disintegrate and disappear.

And finally, a treatment option called ambulatory phlebectomy.  This  varicose vein removal technique uses small incisions in the patient’s skin and very think surgical instruments to pull out varicose vein matter.  Stitches are not even needed for this type of procedure because the incisions are so small, they will quickly heal on their own.

If you are concerned about the high cost of varicose vein removal, it makes sense to look for less expensive alternatives.  One example is the treatment programs offered in India, where the rates for varicose vein treatment are significantly less than they are in the United States, and are just as effective.

Other varicose vein removal options open to you include transilluminated powered phlebectomy and vein ligation as well as vein stripping.
